Jamaican Chinese claim descent from the Hakka Chinese, a subset of Han Chinese known for their migratory and risk taking tendencies.

A new wave of Chinese migration has been occurring in Jamaica. This new wave are known to go into places where locals "fear to tread." They are seizing every opportunity. On another level, Chinese companies have cornered the market on construction projects in Jamaica as every other day it seems a new contract is awarded to one. This augurs well for the future as the island had lost thousands of talented people during the upheavals of the 1970's and 1980's. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
